Technology Associations

Women in Bio (WIB) is an organization of professionals committed to fostering and encouraging entrepreneurship and career development of women active in the life science industry. Its unique networking and educational programs include opportunities to meet with investors, attorneys, accountants, marketing executives, and human resource experts at no cost and initiatives to encourage young women's interest in entrerpreneurship.

Women in Technology (WIT) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to offering women in all levels of the technology industry a wide range of professional development and networking opportunities. One of the organization’s main goals is to create a forum where women in technology can be recognized and promoted as role models.

Maryland Women in Technology (MDWIT) is a global center of excellence for promoting the advancement of women in technology through the development and dissemination of best practices, programs, research, and policy by embracing the values of leadership, equity, and integrity.

The Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP), Baltimore Chapter   The Baltimore Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the nation with approximately 100+ active members. Baltimore has earned several chapter of the year designations both regionally and beyond.  See "National Resources" for more information about this international organization.

Within the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, the Maryland Workforce Exchange i s a clearinghouse of information for job seekers, employers seeking qualified applicants and those who seek and provide training for business.

Governor's Workforce Investment Board (GWIGB)

The Governor's Workforce Investment Board (GWIB)  focuses on the power of E 3 Education, Employment and Economic Development to address workforce development needs in Maryland.  Students and career candidates alike learn about the growing fields of employment growth and potential employment in the publication, Maryland Career Clusters .

Maryland Commission for Women

Commission for Women Counseling & Career Center

The Montgomery County Commission for Women (CFW) , a department of county government, also serves as an advisory board focused on public policies related to women; its Career Center offers direct services to individual women, including personal and career counseling, groups and workshops, information referral and many other services.

ACTiVATE

ACTiVATE is a year-long program to train women with significant technical or business experience to be entrepreneurs and to create start-up companies from inventions from Maryland research institutions and federal agencies.
